NOUN Graduation Requirement for Faculty of Law
The National Open University Of Nigeria NOUN Faculty of Law Graduation requirement is as follows:-
First, to qualify for graduation a student must have spent a minimum of five years (5yrs) i.e. ten (10) semesters for entry 100 level and four years (4yrs) i.e. 8 semesters for direct entry level at 200 level.
The student admitted to 100 level must have earned a minimum of one hundred and ninety-eight (198) unit while those admitted to 200 level must have earned a total of one hundred and ninety-one unit.
It is imperative and important that the student meets the admission requirement for the LL. B programme to qualify for graduation.
The student must have passed all the compulsory courses in the faculty and all the compulsory elective courses for the LL. B programme.
In addition, to the above, the student is expected to have passed all the GST prescribed courses for the programme by the University and completed the long essay (Law 500)
My study center portharcourt is not aware of the notice that is published for we that our names are not yet out for graduation list but our projects and IT result are out, to submits our names, matric and falcuty to our study director, what do we do about that?

Hi, I have passed all the core courses, GSTs and prescribed electives. I currently have 201 units and yet my name does not appear on the graduation list without any form of information. How do you advise I sort this out pls?

Good morning sir, if someone have a diploma in common law and he want to fill D E ( Direct Entry) in NOUN so will NOUN give him 200L in some course related to law such as Criminology and secruty studies or peace studies and conflict resolution in the absence of Law will such move be possible sir,will he be admitted to 200L…. You can’t apply for those courses you mentioned with diploma in law

Pls sir can I get a website or link that will help me with all the courses law student suppose to write to attain the 191 units. I want to check them one by one to know if I have reached my unit load for graduation. Each time they keep saying there are courses you have not written. Mostly GST courses so I can know when I have written them. I don’t want to repeat courses. Thank you.

Which link will show me all the courses I suppose to write as a direct entry law student from 2nd year to final. Please I keep losing my results whenever there is portal upgrade what do I do because is frustrating.
Is PPL 521: CONVEYANCING LAW still an ‘Elective’ or has it been changed to a ‘Core’ course? If the status has changed, does it affect student who didn’t register for it when it was compulsory?

Thank you for your quick response. I have enquired same from my centre but no reliable response was given. I was told to follow a printed course outline wherein CONVEYANCING LAW is an ‘Elective’ course. However, my portal indicates ‘Core’. I don’t knw which one to follow considering that i just finished all registrable courses and awaiting convocation list.
when the suspension on law admission will be lifted and how about law school absorption of ur graduates
Goodday Sir/Ma am a pioneer student of law since and was supposed to have graduated in 2006 till today the school can not trace my Graduation List .this became difficult when my supervisor left to America,i have written i even rewrote my 500 level and other GST courses for many times ,the school refused to release my result or even tell me what was the matter,i became so exhausted and frustrated its so unfair i spent close to 11 to 12 years in the school for the school to mess me up like this, am sad and unhappy.what amazes me is the Graduation list which my name is supposed to be among is not in the school Portal.they have other years even 2017 -2020 but no trace of 2006 or 2016.,,another shocking discovery was when i heard some student saying that they didnt even comp,ete some courses and their names made the Graduation List.its quite unfair treatment for all the years and resurces and time put into the NOUN education even when it was difficult for the school to treat me with soo much injustice

Good evening sir. I am a 300 level law student and I was given admission in 2010/2011 academic session , and I was later posted to Northeastern part of the country for military duties. In the process, I couldn’t be able to continue with the program due to the nature of duty in the northeast. And was later told that the institution has suspended its law program to pave way for negotiations. Now, the question is, (1) did the suspension of the law program affected me, because I was admitted before the suspension. (2) and if the sus didn’t affect me, can I be able to start the back sir.

I applied to NOUN WITH THESE NAMES, EBIMOBOWEI FIDELIS THOMPSON-BIDEIN AS IT IS IN MY WAEC RESULT AND CERTIFICATE, AND THE UNIVERSITY IS SAYING THAT IT WILL NOT GRADUATE ANY STUDENT WITH NAMES ABOVE THREE AND INITIALS. THOUGH, THE THOMPSON-BIDEIN IS JUST ONE NAME . SHOULD IN CASE THE UNIVERSITY HOLDS THEIR GROUND AND WANTS ME TO RESORT TO THE THREE NAMES, WHAT WILL I DO. WHICH OF THE NAMES WILL I NOT INCLUDE. Exactly we were pioneers of the school;l of Law when the school started they have done us a very big injustice the school was only collecting money from us and making us register non-stop. can you believe when it was time for Graduation after clearing all my courses plus the ones the school misplaces of my500 level of all my results? when I got to the school they added new courses that were about 35 courses as though I was starting afresh when I complained to the school the dean said if I like I shouldn’t write them let him see how I will graduate, I couldn’t believe what was happening. I told him that many of the courses were for Economics students and am a law graduating student he ignored me and cut my call I visited the school and the same thing happens, I don’t understand how a graduating student who just came to collect her certificate will be part of a new course that was added to the new students of the school.(Our analysis of the situation where could it be they are trying to make me settle them with money before the release of my certificate or how, because the NOUN System changed they were never like this when it was the former Dean, he was understanding,, fair and helpful as soon as he was changed all these issues in school began)After soo many years since 2004 of schooling in NOUN we were denied our results. I have not graduated. I paid all my dues I was a good student even working and schooling at the same time, you could imagine how it hurts to see someone deny you of your right, I rest my case ,
Mr.Ebimobowei If you are seeing 500 on your portal and in your integrity you know its 300 level, could it be it’s my result that the posted for you and put yours for me..please come to my Aid let justice be done for me,, thank you Ebimobowei for the integrity you have to report this.Law is just 5years it only takes wrong to graduate depending on when you clear your courses since its a work and learn School its not the conventional school,.then the had issues too with the changing and changing of Portal it was as if the ICT were doing experimentation with the NOUN portal the misplaced students results even gave others another course unrelated to there field of study this has affected many of us,,i went to the school and complained and complained i wrote and wrote the school refused to accept their faults and amend the system the spoilt from its original concept…Many of us decided to leave the Certificate since it became something else both the years my money everything the school treated us unfairly and we are fighting for justice and we were pioneers of the school. i rest my case 2
Hmmmmmmmm. Very hear breaking. But have you approached the Faculty of Law of recent to yet table this your long standing issue? Since new V.C and other academic staffs have emerged recently, I will advice that, you should still approach the school, the Faculty of Law to freshly submit your case. I believe they will look into it and proffer solution in your favor. It wasn’t your fault really. It is your right and you have spent time, money, stress to have come this far. Please see to the end of it and be a proud holder of the Certificate of the profession you have been dreaming of. You must surely be vindicated. And where is your study center.
