National Open University Of Nigeria Format For Writing Seminar Paper, NOUN Format for Writing Seminar Report, NOUN Faculty of Science Seminar Report Format.

A seminar paper is a work of original research that presents a specific thesis and is presented to a group of interested peers, usually in an academic setting.

Faculty of Health Science Students of the National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN) should follow this format when writing their Seminar paper.

FORMAT FOR WRITING SEMINARS IN NOUN

Sections with different subtitles are used in seminar writing, not chapters.

CRITERIA

FRONT AND COVER PAGE:- Topic not more than 20 words, course code and course title. Mention the faculty’s name e.g A seminar presented to Department of …… Faculty of Health Sciences/Month/Year.

2nd Page – Student’s name and matric number

3rd Page – Table of Contents

POINTS (MARK ALLOCATED) – 5

ABSTRACT:- Not more than 200 words – An Unstructured abstract (No subdivisions)

POINTS (MARK ALLOCATED) – 10

INTRODUCTION

POINTS (MARK ALLOCATED) – 10

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE:- Body of the work – Review of the related literature to the topic should be divided into headings as necessary (visual aids maybe use e.g pictures, charts, diagram, tables, figures, slide, plates e.t.c)

POINTS (MARK ALLOCATED) – 30

CONCLUSION

POINTS (MARK ALLOCATED) – 5

REFERENCE:- APA Formats should be current

POINTS (MARK ALLOCATED) – 10

TOTAL:- 70 MARKS

Please note that the preliminary pages, including table of content should be in Roman figures.

The font of the characters should be in ”Times New Roman, size 12, Spacing 1.5, Maximum of 6,000 words”

ORAL PRESENTATION OF SEMINARS

CRITERIA

1. Self introduction and salutation – 3 marks

2. Introduction of the topic and it relevance to the Programme (Nursing Science, Public Health and Environmental Health Science) – 3 marks

3. Evidence of Literature search in the presentation – 3 marks

4. Ability to maintain a knowledgeable discussion showing mastery of the topic – 5 marks

5. Verbal communication skills and coherency – 2 marks

6. Appearance and Dressing – 2 marks

7. Ability to answer questions asked – 4 marks

8. Time management of the presentation – 2 marks

9. Summation that draws together the information presented and discussed. ability to draw conclusion – 3 marks

10. Overall PowerPoint Presentation and arrangement of contents – 3 marks

TOTAL:- 30 MARKS

THE GRAND TOTAL POINT IS 100 MARKS.

  1. Well detailed and educative, howbeit, the format varies from one faculty to another. In the faculty of education for instance, no abstract but methodology, result, discussion, conclusion and recommendations are components of seminar. You can do further check on that. In addition, I have image of the faculty of education score sheet.
