NOUN VC joins editorial board of Indian open learning journal

Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Abdalla Uba Adamu, has been appointed as Member, Editorial Advisory Board of the Indian Journal of Open Universities (IJOU), the biggest of its kind in the world.

This followed the reconstitution of the board by the Vice-Chancellor of the Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi.

The new board will serve for three years.

The editorial board consists of several leaders in the Open and Distant Learning (ODL) mode of education from around the world, including the president of the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), many other vice-chancellors and directors.

A statement from the Chief Editor of the IJOU, Prof. B.K. Biswas, indicated that the journal was founded in 1992 to disseminate information about the theory, practice and research in the field of ODL, including multimedia education, education technology, and communication, independent and experiential learning and other innovative forms of education.

It has published over 600 articles and communications, several book reviews, and workshop reports.

Prof. Adamu is the First Vice-President of the Nairobi-based African Council for Open and Distant Learning (ACODL).
