NOUN programme is flexible and Cost-Effective
National Open University Of Nigeria Programmes
The Director, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Ado-Ekiti Study Centre, Dr. Raheem Adejoro Mustapha, has stated that NOUN programmes are flexible and cost-effective as they were designed to give students the opportunity to work and learn at the same time.
The Director said this when the JAMB Coordinator, Ekiti State Office, Mr. Hakeem AbdulHameed, visited his office in Ado-Ekiti recently. He said, “NOUN is regarded as the largest institution in Nigeria with campuses spread across the country with the aim of fostering academic excellence in its students.”
He further stated that the institution would collaborate with the Board in its bid to move education to the next level by helping in the dissemination of information regarding the adoption of the National Identification Number (NIN) for UTME and other developments.
In his remarks, the JAMB Coordinator thanked the Director for the warm reception accorded him and his team and pledged the Board’s continued partnership with NOUN.
He also used the opportunity afforded by the visit to sensitise the Director on the various innovations recorded by the Board such as the introduction of the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) which was designed to guard against admission racketeering. He then advised students to patronise only accredited CBT centres for registration.
In a related development, the Coordinator and his team also paid a courtesy call on the Management and Governing Board, Ajayi Polytechnic, Ekiti State, to intimate them on the various innovations put in place by the present leadership of the Board as well as showcase the available services being rendered by the Board vis-a-vis CAPS, NIN, etc.
He said, “The services of the Board are fully automated. This is aimed at stemming all forms of infractions.” He advised the school management on the importance of setting up a standard CBT centre and added that those willing to set up CBT centres could visit the Board’s official website www.jamb.gov.ng for the requirements.
Speaking on the occasion, the Registrar of the Institution, Pastor Julius Ayodele, in company of the Chairman, Governing Board, Sir Chief M. A. Ajayi, lauded the Management of the Board for the big strides it has made in so many areas. He made particular reference to the introduction of National Identification Number (NIN) for UTME registration, which according to him, would help to correct the anomalies witnessed during previous exercises. He implored the Board not to rest on its laurels by continuously modifying the admission process as well as putting machinery in place to ensure that all candidates who have the necessary requirements gain admission.
