How To Build Enterprise Applications by Oracle Academy

This is to inform all National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN) students that, Oracle Academy in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Education Nigeria would be providing free hands-on lab training on how to build enterprise applications with Oracle APEX, for both Lecturers & Students from July 6, 2020 | 10 a.m. — 2 p.m. (GMT +1)

If you’ve ever been curious about low code app development related to Oracle database, this is the event for you.

In partnership with the Federal Ministry of Education Nigeria, Oracle Academy is bringing teachers and students this hands-on lab.

Oracle Application Express (APEX) is taught at numerous colleges and universities worldwide and has proven to be a successful environment for educating students about many important concepts: data modelling, SQL, performance, user experience, security and more.

Almost every business application involves managing data, and Oracle database has long been known as the world-class environment for managing and securing data.

Oracle database also includes a FREE low-code application development framework which enables customers to quickly build modern, responsive, and beautiful applications. Hundreds of thousands of developers worldwide use this framework, APEX, to solve business problems every day. APEX handles the mundane yet important aspects of web application development—responsive user interface design, security, globalization, and accessibility—and enables customers to instead focus on building the solutions to their business problems.

This hands-on workshops for student beginners and experienced developers, as well as teachers, offers every participant their own free APEX account. Just use your own laptop, request a free APEX account using the steps included here, complete the class, and earn a certificate of attendance.

  • Spreadsheet lab
    What you will learn: Build your first app through uploading a spreadsheet, improve the search and report pages, and link pages.
  • Proof-of-concept lab
    What you will learn: Define new tables and views, create an application on the new data structures, and refine the application.
  • REST web source lab
    What you will learn: Enable REST tables and views, define web source modules against REST endpoints, and build an application using web source modules.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Attendees MUST register for an Oracle APEX account prior to attending the course. Please use the steps below to register.

  • Go to https://apex.oracle.com
  • Click Get Started for Free
  • Scroll down until you see details for apex.oracle.com. Click Request a Free Workspace
  • On the Request a Workspace dialog, enter your Identification details – First Name, Last Name, Email, Workspace
    {Note: For workspace enter a unique name, such as first initial and last name}
  • Click Next
  • Complete the remaining wizard steps.
  • Check your email. You should get an email from Oracle application-express_ww@oracle.com within a few minutes.{Note: If you don’t receive an email, go back to Step 3 and ensure you’ve entered your correct email address.}
    Within the email body, click Create Workspace.
  • Click Continue to Sign-In Screen.
  • Enter your password, and click Apply Changes.
  • You should now be in the Oracle APEX Builder.

It is vital to note that since the same invite has been extended to all Lecturers and Students in other Universities, there are limited spaces, hence the need to be prompt in registering for this training.
