NITT Proposed To NOUN For Engineering Programme

The Nigeria Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) Zaria, today paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University, Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu at the university’s headquarters, Jabi, Abuja.

Led by its Director-General and Chief Executive Officer Dr. A. Odumosu and other management staff of the institute, the DG highlighted the purpose of the visit was to key into the NOUN vision mode of education delivery by seeing the possibility of NOUN running some transport-related courses in partnership with NITT.
NITT DG took the time to eulogise the similarities of both institutions as being everywhere in the country trying to make an impact in educating Nigerians.

He then requested and tabled a letter of proposal before the management of the University for the possibility of co-running a Transportation program.

Dr. Odumosu also took time to reel out the various courses offered at the NITT Zaria.

Responding, the vice chancellor, Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu thanked the visitors for this laudable initiative, and took time to explain to his guest the spread and mode of the university operations which he says is the largest and biggest in West Africa with over 400,000 students. Abdalla says “We are very happy for this partnership especially that this relationship will be bringing IGR to the university”.

“Your proposal of running this programme on the surface and in principle is fantastic. I’ll first take it to the management for consideration and possible approval “, says the VC.

Professor Abdalla Uba also drew the attention of the visitors to the presence of National Universities Commission, NUC, as the only regulatory agency that has the statutory role to draw the minimum benchmark for the course.

The vice chancellor took time to explain certain challenges with regards to where to domesticate the program which basically is an engineering course, the faculty to house the programme, which at the moment, the university is yet to start running
